‘Where Feet May Fail’ was taken from the song Oceans, from the album Zion, by Hillsong United. It was in 2013 when we first heard the song, and for a while God had been stirring our hearts, challenging us to step out of our comfort zone. The lyrics resonated with our desire to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord (Col. 1: 9 – 12). It became the prayer of our heart, and that was the year God confirmed our call to long-term missions in Nsoko, Swaziland. Charity and I pray that we are a family that lives out the truth of the Scripture, completely trusting in God no matter where His Spirit leads us. We cannot be frightened to step out of the boat, and in to the rough storms that will inevitably come. In Psalm 23, God promises to lead us in paths of righteousness, and in that leading, we will end up in the valley of the shadow of death, but we must not fear because He is with us. So, when we step in faith, ‘Where Feet May Fail’, we must step with our eyes firmly fixed on Him, knowing that He is there with us, and is in sovereign control of the storm. It is here, and only here, will we find true, complete and continual joy in our lives. When, wherever we are, daily we are walking ‘Where Feet May Fail’ trusting solely in the power and strength of The One who called us, is sustaining us, and is completing His work in and through us, His bride. Praise God for calling all of His children to walk ‘Where Feet May Fail’, providing us with the strength of His Son to take the steps to do His work. So to us, ‘Where Feet May Fail’, is not just a single action at any given point of time, but rather it is a way of life.
Oceans (Where feet may fail)
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find you in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand
~
And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
~
Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You’ve never failed and You won’t start now
~
So I will call upon Your Name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine
~
Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior
~
I will call upon Your Name
Keep my eyes above the waves
My soul will rest in Your embrace
I am Yours and You are mine
We are so extremely excited for you guys and look forward to helping you in any way we can to fulfill your obedience to our Lord and Savior – Jesus Christ. How fitting is this song… especially in a ministry so far from what we know as comfort and in a culture so different than our own. We love you all and will pray for His eternal blessings in your life.
